Successfully completed the 44th CONSTRUMA and 14th HOMEDesign exhibitions

Exhibitors and visitors alike considered the recently concluded 44th CONSTRUMA International Building Trade Exhibition and the 14th HOMEDesign Home Creation Trade Exhibition a success. Nearly 30,000 people visited the country’s most important domestic showcase of the industry over the five days at the HUNGEXPO Budapest Congress and Exhibition Center.
A central issue for the period ahead is how domestic investment activity in the construction industry can be maintained and further expanded. This was stated by Csaba Gondola, State Secretary for Circular Economy and Climate Policy at the Ministry of Energy, at the opening of the exhibition, adding that, as the changing global environment is posing increasing challenges to the sector, it is particularly important that, through the expansion of domestic capacities, investments should strengthen the domestic economy to the greatest possible extent. The government provides the framework, but implementation rests with the sector. CONSTRUMA provides exactly the professional forum where these solutions meet practical application, the State Secretary concluded.
Balázs Szilágyi, Exhibition Director, highlighted that the key words of this year’s CONSTRUMA are efficiency, digitalisation and competitiveness – that is, the direction in which the entire sector is heading. The exhibition is fundamentally about the construction industry, but the ultimate aim of construction is always the home. “Today, home is not only an aesthetic or functional question, but increasingly also an energy and sustainability question. This is primarily what the CONSTRUMA and HOMEDesign exhibitions are about,” Balázs Szilágyi added
In this year’s exhibition, 340 exhibitors from 19 countries took part. In addition to Hungarian exhibitors, European, Asian and American companies were also present. The number of visitors reached 30,000. Exhibitors highlighted that, alongside the professional programmes, the weekend “public days” were also very successful. Besides the wide range of exhibitors, this was primarily thanks to crowd-pulling attractions such as the Scaffolding Construction Competition, the giant mock-up of the 130-year-old Liberty Bridge, created with the involvement of carpentry professionals from the Association of Roof Builders, and the bricklaying robot presenting the future of construction industry automation, which Wienerberger brought to the event.
CONSTRUMA – Professional Programmes and Awards
Professional programmes were again given special emphasis at the exhibition: many registered for and took part in the forums organised on the future of and opportunities in the construction industry. Nearly full to capacity on the opening day was the international conference entitled “Home in Europe – Housing Dialogue” on current issues relating to the housing situation, organised by The National Federation of Hungarian Building Contractors (ÉVOSZ). A number of further training courses were also held during CONSTRUMA. The further training courses of the Hungarian Chamber of Architects and the Hungarian Chamber of Engineers were again important meeting points for professionals this year.
The guided professional tours also supported the orientation of those working in the construction industry, providing an opportunity for visitors to become directly acquainted with the exhibitors’ innovations and solutions.
The most innovative products, solutions and services were also awarded by a professional jury this year: the CONSTRUMA Awards were presented at the opening ceremony.
This year’s awarded products:
- the ABZ Innovation C10; an industrial drone cleaning device that offers a new solution in the field of building maintenance and industrial cleaning;
- the MODULIER® modular dirt-trapping floor covering system with aluminium rails for building entrances of Cleartex Kft.;
- Fronius Hungary Kft.’s Fronius Verto Plus; a hybrid inverter;
- Midea’s PortaSplit; an energy-saving air-conditioning unit.**
At the exhibition, visitors could also watch live the practical preparation of the Hungarian participant in the WorldSkills Shanghai competition.
The CONSTRUMA Garden was given a place in a separate pavilion, where the 300-square-metre, walk-through, plant-focused community stand of the National Association of Hungarian Landscape Contractors (MAKE) was a huge success. The motto of the presentation was sustainability and an experience-centred approach.
Another highly successful element of the 2026 CONSTRUMA Garden was the scent-based, interactive experience programme of Oázis Kft.
HOMEDesign
An important pillar of CONSTRUMA this time as well was the HOMEDesign Home Creation Trade Exhibition, which this year placed at the centre the idea of a personalised home that supports physical and mental well-being. In the case of the products exhibited, sustainability was an important consideration; natural materials, ergonomic furniture, technologies supporting rest, and conscious spatial organisation also appeared at the stands.
With the support of the exhibition’s prominent professional partner, the National Association of Interior Designers, HOMEDesign this year also placed great emphasis on familiarising visitors with both interior design trends and domestic design. The Hungarian Design stand this year also gave several dozen Hungarian designers and planners an opportunity to present themselves. At the stand, personalised solutions were brought into focus
The interior design, smart home and home staging consultations of the professionals of the National Association of Interior Designers and the Hungarian Home Staging Association provided practical assistance to those who wished to increase the value of their property or shape their living spaces more consciously.
This year as well, HUNGEXPO made it possible for the young creators submitting applications to present their products at the HOMEDesign exhibition, arranged in a complex interior, as a real spatial experience. From among the works submitted to the HOMEDesign Application, two winners were announced this year.
- Sustainable self-love scale; a sustainable and personalised interior operating with minimalist, geometric wooden furniture and vibrant colours;
- “Against the Tide” project, which is the joint collection of a graphic designer and an interior designer of unique wallpapers and home textiles, for which the inspiration was provided by local protected bird species, classic wooden sailing boats, and the timeless forms of the folk architecture of the Balaton Highlands
The professional workshops, lectures and demonstrations were also a great success. At the events of FABUNIO – Association of Hungarian Furniture and Woodworking Industries– for example, visitors could learn about important figures in Hungarian furniture manufacturing, furniture design and education. At the accredited conference of the National Assocation of Stonemasons and Stone Moulders, they could learn about the use of natural stone, terrazzo and artificial stone in architecture; in addition, as is traditional, practical demonstrations also awaited those interested. The initiative of the Women in Construction Association was also a great success, where female professionals gave advice to those building and to interior designers, while stage programmes presented the “female perspective” in construction and home-creation processes.
At the same time as this year’s CONSTRUMA exhibition, the 19th Szakma Sztár Festival was held at the HUNGEXPO venue, where nearly 200 students competed in 50 categories. Nearly 16,000 visitors arrived at the event from all parts of the country, among them students interested in the professions and facing decisions about school and career choice. Through the competitions, they could also gain an insight into the everyday tasks of half a hundred professions.
