Successful Five Days at the CONSTRUMA Exhibition Group

Green Building and Sustainability at CONSTRUMA

The 43rd CONSTRUMA International Building Trade Exhibition has come to an end. Held in conjunction with the 12th HUNGAROTHERM International Trade Exhibition for Heating, Ventilation, Air Condition Technology and Sanitation, as well as the 13th HOMEDesign Home making exhibition, the event brought together 400 exhibitors showcasing their products, services, and innovations at the HUNGEXPO Budapest Congress and Exhibition Center. Over the five days, thousands of visitors attended programs organized by industry chambers and professional partners, with one of the main focuses being the circular economy and green building.

The country’s most significant building and home making event series concluded a successful five-day run. Nearly 30,000 visitors attended the event at the HUNGEXPO Budapest Congress and Exhibition Center, including homebuilders, renovators, and professionals from various sectors of the construction industry. According to feedback from exhibitors, a particularly positive takeaway was the high number of designers and general contractors among the visitors—indicating strong interest and resulting in numerous concrete business deals.

Despite the challenges facing the sector, the Hungarian construction industry has managed to remain stable—thanks largely to the initiative and innovation of domestic enterprises. This was one of the key points highlighted by Regő Lánszki, State Secretary for Architecture at the Ministry of Construction and Transport, during the exhibition’s opening ceremony. He added that Hungarian companies are capable of delivering world-class performance when given the opportunity, as evidenced by the exhibitors at CONSTRUMA.

Traditionally, the opening of the exhibition is followed by the conference of the National Federation of Hungarian Building Contractors (ÉVOSZ), which is the largest annual gathering of professionals in the Hungarian construction industry. László Koji, the president of the organization, noted that while the value of new construction contracts is currently lower than it was last year, residential construction and renovation could serve as potential breakout points for the industry. Among the key opportunities, he highlighted green building and digitalization. He pointed out that cost-efficiency at the corporate level has improved significantly over the past two years, and the next step should be improving efficiency across the entire value chain and the broader construction economy. He added that the industry is ready to evolve, as reflected in the strong interest shown in the exhibition’s professional programs.

In addition to the ÉVOSZ event, many attendees participated in the continuing education programs organized by the Hungarian Chamber of Architects (MÉK) and the Budapest and Pest County Chamber of Engineers (BPMK). Over the course of three days, more than 500 professionals exchanged experiences at the latter’s sessions. This time, the conference was closely tied to the exhibition itself, as participants had the opportunity to explore the latest trends and innovations directly at the booths of exhibitors related to the conference topics.

The Green Future Conference, organized by the Hungarian Green Building Council (HuGBC), focused on green and sustainable construction and also attracted a large number of industry professionals. Similarly, the traditional Solar Conference held by the Hungarian Photovoltaic and Solar Collector Association also drew strong professional interest.

Thousands of visitors stopped by the Tudásépítő Team’s booth, which offered practical demonstrations of various construction professions. For the first time, DANIELLA ELECTRICITY appeared at the exhibition as a strategic partner, showcasing the electrical solutions of the future. At one of the year’s largest professional events in the electrical sector, attendees were introduced to the latest technological advancements and industry innovations.

The focus theme of this year’s HOMEDesign Home making exhibition was the creation of a home that supports both physical and mental well-being. This included, among other things, natural materials, comfortable furniture, and modern furnishings that promote relaxation—features that were prominently featured at the exhibition. The theme was curated by the Wellbeing Association, one of HOMEDesign’s professional partners. According to feedback, the choice of theme proved to be a perfect hit, as many visitors sought out the booths centered around the concepts of wellbeing and healthy homes.

Women’s topics also ” proved popular” at the exhibition: many were interested in the presentations on Women in Construction and the “Female Harmony” interior design (the winning entry of the HOMEDesign idea competition), which showcased a slice of a vibrant, urban woman’s home.

At the Hungarian Design stand, works by young Hungarian designers were showcased for the 13th time—once again arranged as full interior setups. The Association of Hungarian Carpet Designers presented the latest pieces by contemporary Hungarian rug designers, while under the Wood Like initiative, organized by the FABUNIO Hungarian Wood and Furniture Industry Union, visitors had the chance to become craftsmen for a few hours in a fully equipped woodworking workshop. The Hungarian Stone Association contributed with a stone industry conference and live carving demonstrations during the exhibition.

For the first time, the Hungarian Home Staging Association participated in the exhibition, showcasing how the value of properties intended for sale or rent can be increased through effective home staging techniques.

At the exhibition’s opening ceremony, the CONSTRUMA and HUNGAROTHERM Awards were presented, honoring the most significant innovations of the past year.
