Our new exhibition, ENVIRONTEC powered by ÖKOINDUSTRIA, concluded successfully

One of the most important international trade exhibitions for the environmental profession has come to an end, bringing together organisations committed to sustainability and climate protection. The focus was on the environmental industry, waste, water, air quality and sustainable, innovative solutions. ENVIRONTEC powered by ÖKOINDUSTRIA is a new development of HUNGEXPO, in close cooperation with the Hungarian Association of Environmental Enterprises (HAEE). Both exhibitors and visitors rated the event a success, with several professional conferences in addition to the new products on display.

The three-day event was attended by 3000 professional visitors. At the HUNGEXPO Budapest Congress and Exhibition Centre, more than 100 exhibitors from seven countries (Austria, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Croatia, Germany, Italy, Switzerland) and Hungary presented their latest developments and most successful projects on 1100 square meters, offering visitors the opportunity to learn about domestic and foreign innovations that play an important role in the green transition and climate adaptation.

At the opening of ENVIRONTEC, Dr. Anikó Raisz, State Secretary of Environment and Circular Economy at the Ministry of Energy (MOE), said that the Hungarian government is committed to achieving economic growth in the spirit of sustainability while strengthening competitiveness, and in this context several concrete measures have been taken in recent years. She added that developing the circular economy is a top priority in Hungary too. Not only from an environmental point of view, but also because it can reduce the risks of resource scarcity and increase the industry’s resilience to price volatility.

The CEO of the organiser, Hungexpo, also spoke about the commitment. Gábor Ganczer emphasized that HUNGEXPO also has a responsibility for sharing the country’s future. “Beyond sound business considerations, we want to meet this responsibility when we develop a new exhibition,” he said. The CEO said that it is also special because it creates a common platform for all those who are committed to sustainability and the environment. The exhibition is not only a showcase of best practices and solutions in the region, but also a forum for professional dialogue and collective reflection. “Together we will find solutions to successfully adapt to environmental challenges and reduce the harmful effects of industrial activities,” said Gábor Ganczer.

The interest shown in the first ENVIRONTEC is evidenced by the hundreds of participants who attended the organised professional programs.

Dr. Csaba Ágoston, President of the organizing HAEE, assessed the ESG roundtable held in the framework of the exhibition as a great success, where participants were able to learn about the latest ESG regulations and received useful practical advice on how small and medium-sized enterprises can comply with the new regulatory requirements. The international conference RE:BROWN Remediation and Brownfield Investments was held with great professional interest, where experts from Hungary and abroad discussed the EU framework for soil protection, pollution prevention and remediation measures, and good practices. The conference, organised in partnership with HAEE and ISWA (International Solid Waste Association), also attracted great interest, focusing on waste prevention, reuse and recovery in practice. The latest digital solutions and developments most relevant to the situation in the region, such as the experiences of the DRS (Deposit and Return System), were presented.

The three-day programs were supported by ENVIROTIS Holding Zrt., and the Ministry of Energy.

ENVIRONTEC’s exhibitors, visitors, professionals, business people, interested visitors and students from higher education institutions were interested in the round-table discussions and conferences of the event’s professional partners (MaVÍZ and KÖVET Association). Many of them also attended the international businessmen’s meeting of the Hungarian Export Promotion Agency Nonprofit Zrt. (HEPA) and the Green Balkan Forum, which promotes the technology export opportunities of Hungarian environmental companies in the Western Balkans region.

Several Hungarian higher education institutions were also exhibitors at the exhibition. Many visitors came to the stands of MATE, the University of Pannonia, Edutus University, the Óbuda University and the University of Miskolc, where they could learn about the latest research and developments in the field of environmental protection.

The Netherlands was the foreign guest of honour at the first ENVIRONTEC powered by ÖKOINDUSTRIA, which had 11 stands. At the opening ceremony, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Hungary presented the Sustainable Tulip Award, which was won by Béres Zrt.

Also at the opening ceremony, the grand prizes of the exhibition were awarded by the jury to the companies that came up with the most innovative products and services to meet the challenges of the future. The first ENVIRONTEC Grand Prize in the service category was awarded to AGRIAPIPE Pipe Cleaning, Construction and Services Kft. for its technology for the renovation of buries utility lines without excavation; and the winner in the product/technology category was the IntrCooll – HydroBank – AZUD integrated eco-centric, 4-season climate control system with circular water management technology from OXYMA Systems Kft. On the last day of the ENVIRONTEC exhibition, the Audience Award was also presented. During the three days of the exhibition, visitors could vote for the most innovative and informative exhibitor appearance via the HUNGEXPO app. MiReHu Nonprofit Kft. received the most votes.
