Budapest’s marketplace for the green transition – ENVIRONTEC powered by ÖKOINDUSTRIA returns this October
International Environment Day serves as a reminder that sustainability is no longer only an environmental priority, but also a key economic and competitiveness issue. Knowledge, innovation, the ability to adapt quickly, access to sustainable finance and the capacity to build international partnerships have become the most valuable resources for successful businesses.
Focusing on the challenges and business opportunities shaping the environmental industry, HUNGEXPO, together with its professional partners, will host the 2nd ENVIRONTEC powered by ÖKOINDUSTRIA international trade exhibition in Budapest from 7–9 October 2026. The event will create a unique platform for networking and business development, bringing together leading players from the environmental sector, water industry, waste management and circular economy.
ENVIRONTEC aims to serve as a marketplace and knowledge platform for the green industries, connecting innovations with industrial users, developers with investors, and Hungarian companies with stakeholders from the rapidly developing markets of the region. The event will showcase technologies and solutions that contribute to the more efficient use of natural resources, reducing environmental impact and strengthening sustainable economic growth, while supporting the exchange of professional expertise and best practices.
Key environmental industry challenges in focus
The exhibition’s accompanying professional programme will once again address the most pressing issues facing the environmental sector, including changes in the regulation of industrial emissions, water-conscious solutions and responses in the age of climate change, the future of waste management, trends and opportunities in remediation and brownfield investments, as well as environmental challenges affecting Central and South-Eastern Europe and possible solutions.
Following its successful debut in 2024, the event returns this year with an even stronger international focus. Speakers will include representatives from the European Environment Agency (EEA), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA), among others.
Thanks to Hungary’s geographical position, the country naturally serves as a meeting point for Central and South-Eastern Europe. ENVIRONTEC therefore offers Hungarian companies a unique opportunity to access regional markets, build new business partnerships and expand their export potential.
The Czech Republic will be the guest country of the 2026 exhibition. As one of the region’s most advanced environmental industries, it will present its latest technologies, innovations and best practices through companies arriving as part of the CzechTrade delegation.
The full spectrum of the environmental industry under one roof
A defining feature of ENVIRONTEC is that it brings together the entire environmental industry value chain in one place – from waste management and water technologies through remediation, energy efficiency and measurement & analytics, to the latest green technology developments.
Built around a practical approach, the event will provide a platform not only for exhibiting companies, but also for start-ups, universities and research institutions to present their innovations on stage, helping accelerate the journey from development to real-world implementation.
The event is co-organised by the Hungarian Association of Environmental Enterprises. Its key professional partner is the Hungarian Water and Wastewater Association, while the National Association of Waste Management Companies supports the event as a professional partner. The Hungarian Export Promotion Agency will support business networking among participating companies through an international B2B matchmaking programme.
The first ENVIRONTEC welcomed 100 exhibitors from eight countries and more than 3,000 professional visitors. In 2026, the organisers are preparing to welcome environmental industry stakeholders to Budapest with even more business opportunities, new professional programmes and an expanded international network.
