Is It Worth It? Or Not? – Tillage Dilemmas
Regenerative soil management provides answers not only to the challenges of climate change but also to economic considerations: it can make production more weather-resilient and less dependent on inputs. Following a short presentation by Gábor Szőllősi (Agrofutura Kft.), the panel discussion with invited experts will explore when and why switching is worthwhile, what initial steps should be taken, and how soil can create long-term, sustainable value for farms.
The professional program will be opened by a short welcome address by Dr. Balázs Szabó, Deputy State Secretary Responsible for Agricultural Economics.
Participants of the panel discussion:
Roland Boros – precision farming consultant, KITE
Ádám Dörömbözi – Dörömbözi Kft.

Irrigation as the Foundation of Yield Security — Roundtable Discussion Organised by Magyar Mezőgazdaság Ltd.
Date: Friday, 23 January 2026, from 12:30 to 13:30
Venue: AGROmashEXPO – HUNGEXPO, Pavilion D, Forum Stage
The necessity of irrigation is most often discussed in connection with climate change, primarily as a means of preventing losses caused by drought.
In horticulture, and especially in intensive production systems, however, irrigation primarily serves yield security by ensuring consistent and high-quality production. In the fresh produce market, predictable supply and attractive produce are essential, which can be achieved through regular irrigation even if the average annual precipitation typical in Hungary does occur. Depending on the crop, there are specific periods when water is indispensable for successful fruit set and for producing high-quality yields. This goal can sometimes be achieved with just a few well-timed irrigation events, as in the case of grapes, where irrigation is still not common practice in Hungary. In addition to maintaining a constant market presence, irrigation can also increase yield volumes, and for certain fresh-market fruits it can significantly improve profitability by enabling the sale of larger, more attractive produce.
Welcome addresses by:
Imre Hubai, State Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture (invited)
Viktor Nagy, Professional Secretary, MAGOSZ
