The first HOME Design Autumn exhibition and fair was held successfully in Budapest Fair Center. Nearly 100 exhibitors brought their products and services related to home interior and design to be showcased in this debut exhibition. In addition to the stands, visitors were also welcomed by many professional programmes, creative vocational schools and home fairs.

HUNGEXPO’s newly-developed HOMEDesign Autumn exhibition was born of the realization that the growth of Hungary’s construction industry and the increasing demand for home building and restructuring had significantly intensified the home interior design and decoration market in the past two years. In addition, HUNGEXPO has been dedicated to Hungary’s design trade: The spring CONSTRUMA exhibitions have successfully featured HOME Design, so the demand for an independent design exhibition did not come unexpected for HUNGEXPO’s management. Further developing the original concept, HOMEDesign Autumn welcomed visitors with new solutions, partners and programmes in Budapest Fair Center’s most modern Pavilion “G”. The gross 9500-square meter area hosted the showcase of 97 exhibitors presenting their products and services for home interior design.

The event had an international attraction as well: the professional and the general audience got a taste of the masterpieces of the Romanian furniture industry. The 300-square meter Romanian stand displayed the product portfolios of 15 Romanian furniture manufacturers. Beside the great interest of the general public, many business meetings were held by the participants, too.

The exhibition’s strategic partner was Design Week Budapest, which held its 15th anniversary this year. Thanks to this cooperation, visitors could get a taste of the achievements of the constantly growing Hungarian creative industry. As a component of the cooperation, Pure Design project offers an individual presentation opportunity for young Hungarian furniture designers who have already reached the phase of their brand-building process when they are ready to have their products tested in the market on their own or to sell their products to a larger audience.

Hungexpo and Design Week’s cooperation also has another fruit; the “Where to go on?” higher education fair, where 24 education institutions of the creative profession participated, showcasing their education and training programmes during the three days of the exhibition. In relation with the event, HOME Design Autumn’s other professional partner, the Hungarian Furniture Association organized a roundtable discussion on the opening day of the exhibition. The participants of the discussion panel - highly-acclaimed professionals and representatives of education institutions - talked about such issues as how long and what you should study and what “long-life learning” meant, among other things.

Offering colourful programmes to the general public, “Wood Like” family workshop allowed participants to make their own furniture with the help of young professionals, and was a smashing success.

Beside the appearance of nearly a hundred exhibitors, the event’s other core element was the Innovation Home stand (organized by Style&Home Kft.) where cca. 40 companies presented home-related innovative solutions and technical developments in 8 thematic groups. Forming an oasis of the exhibition, this display island offered visitors a sight of trendy interiors as well as home design and decoration consulting services.

Held at the same time with the exhibition, PROPERTY 2018 real estate exhibition and fair once again brought flat brokering networks, banks, building savings funds and insurance companies under the same roof. The intensive interest currently characterizing the flat market was clearly visible in the event as well.

Based on the experience gathered this year, HUNGEXPO will organize the HOMEDesign Autumn exhibition next year, too. In the meantime, the next event on home decoration and design, i.e., the CONSTRUMA exhibition portfolio, will be held on 3-7 April, 2019.
